Vimeotheque 2.2.4 Update: Patching Video Privacy Issues and Fixing Broken Embeds

This update is a patch addressing new video privacy issues caused by the embedding security measures introduced by Vimeo. It specifically affects “Unlisted” videos and may cause embeds to malfunction.

To learn more about Vimeo’s security enhancements, refer to the official Vimeo help documentation.

With Vimeotheque 2.2.4 and Vimeotheque PRO, the new privacy settings for Vimeo videos will be embedded correctly for any videos imported from now on. For videos imported before Vimeotheque 2.2.4, you can use the Video Details Reimport add-on, available with your Vimeotheque PRO subscription.

How to update

To update, simply visit the WordPress repository and update the free version of Vimeotheque to version 2.2.4. If you’re not a PRO user, no further action is required after updating.

Solving broken embeds with re-import

After updating, if you encounter video embeds that fail to display on your page or playlists created with Vimeotheque, you’ll need to re-import the video details.

To perform this action automatically, install the “Video details re-import” add-on using a valid Vimeotheque PRO license key. More information about the add-on can be found at: https://docs.vimeotheque.com/video-details-re-import/
